U.S. Department of Defense at Charleston Naval Shipyard: Environmental Engineer; Mechanical Engineer; Project Engineer; Submarine Maintenance Coordinator; 1976-1996
Responsible for the control of engineering projects on submarine tenders and destroyer tenders. Served as technical supervisor of engineers, technicians and draftsmen assigned to these projects. Main functions were engineering and analysis and design of major ship modifications and repairs. Projects covered all aspects of ships mechanical systems including piping systems, ventilation and propulsion components. Involved in various aspects of environmental projects for closure of shipyard.

Engineering Manager - Supervised and managed staff of engineers and technicians. Was responsible for new product development from idea stage through design, field testing and production. As Manager of Quality Control and Engineering - Supervised and managed staff of department. Developed the quality control manual and inspection procedures for all the company products.

Responsible for the management and administration of seven Associate of Science engineering technology programs and two diploma programs. As Department Head, Mechanical Engineering Technology helped determine the course and curriculum content for the two year program and taught various Mechanical Engineering Technology courses.

Wrote and conducted tests on components of missiles and rockets in service with the army.
U.S. Department of Defense at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia : Mechanical Engineer in Manufacturing Engineering Support; 1960-1962
Established and wrote specifications for Air Force purchase of machine tools for all of its bases. Did research and investigation into Air Force utilization of numerically controlled machine tools.
