COMMON CENTS
A BEHAVIOR SYSTEM THAT WORKS!

Comments of Teachers Using Common Cents Program

The program was piloted and tested at Oakbrook Elementary School in Summerville, South Carolina. It was used in seven first grade classes and in a Gifted and Talented classroom.  The results of the final teacher survey showed strong teacher acceptance with all of the particpating teachers. Some of the teacher comments were:

"Best classroom managementsystem I have ever used."

"Students are more attentive."

"Students love the reward of store/auction and don't want to lose money."

"I was surprised that it really worked! Kids brought in homework better than they ever have."

The parents of the students were also surveyed and they were just as enthusiastic. Some comments were:

"I feel having physical evidence for a job well done is exciting, encouraging and good for self esteem. Life is based on success and failure and with the money system, success is just a little sweeter."

"This sysyem seems to work well with my child. We are now trying it at home with chores as well as behavior."

"I feel it may help most children learn how they are expected to act in a group or in public. At their ages, the reward system and being able to choose something on their own was a great idea. Also, it definitely made them aware of our system of  purchasing items. This is an excellent learning tool.
